GATEWAY SUMMER DAY CAMPS

Interested in understanding better who you are and how to survive the wilderness with nothing?  interested in learning how to teach others these skills?

 

Explore the wild places of Del Norte and Curry Counties with a skilled group of survivalists.

July 13 - 17, 13 - 18yrs old

July  27 – 31,  9 - 12yrs old

ADVANCED CAMP

In Gateway’s summer day camp, participants learn how to use tools of survival. In Advanced Camp you learn how to fashion them. Join us and gain a deeper and broader knowledge of the natural world and how to use your instincts to navigate it - what are local edible plants, natural repellents, anti bacterials?

Learn them all in this 3 day/2 night adventure.

August   15 - 17

13 - 24 years old

Cost - $200

($100 if participating in six

or more adventures prior to camp)

Prerequisite: Must have attended at least 2 years of standard Gateway day camp.

EARTH-RIGHT ADVENTURE CAMP

This camp is a first of its kind in the county. The camp is four days of camping and cooking with introductions to all major outdoor activities  including rafting, rock climbing, hiking, fishing plus more.

August 17 - 21

13 - 24 years old

Cost - $300

HERO'S QUEST

Hero's Quest is a Young Men’s Rite of Passage & Young Women’s Coming of Age - for those who feel they are ready to begin the journey & mystery of becoming a man or a woman. How do you build a healthy relationship, with your family, community, nature and with your Self? Who are the people you can count on to support you? Learn all this and more.

Young Men-August (Exact dates TBA)

Young Women-October (Exact dates TBA)

Friday 5pm through Sunday 2pm

13 - 24 years old

HARVEST SEASON ADVENTURE

What does food from Turkey, India or Thailand taste like? We’ll find out after gathering some good old fashioned American food. Experience the adventure of harvesting apples, making cider & selling it. Help a friend afford to participate or pay for the following years adventures from your profits. Learn about and gather mushrooms, lemons, grapefruits, stinging nettle & mistletoe. We live in a county full of amazing things to harvest!

September/October

2-8 hours, 2 - 3 days, traveling

PASTELS IN THE PARK

Each July 4th Gateway Education holds a fundraiser event to generate sponsorship for the Gateway Summer Camp Program. These sponsorships help alleviate the cost of individuals attending the camp. Due to public health guidelines & considerations, Pastels in the Park is postponed until a later date - STAY TUNED!

An application and interview is required by all participants to attend any part of the summer adventure program.
